Here are some photos of the big carving event. The kids were great and so was Mrs. Fisher. She was our expert carver. The kids came into class first thing in the morning, and we did an activity called power voting to decide which kind of face our pumpkin should have. Most of the kids helped scoop out the pulp and the seeds.
Mrs. Fisher took home some of the seeds and cooked them for us. We chowed down the next day!
We are also drying some seeds on the window. We'll try planting these in the spring and see what happens.
You will see the pre-carved pumpkin, the many seeds we pulled out, and the final product. . . before he started to rot.
This pumpkin was picked from our school garden. Last year's class planted pumpkins. This guy was mostly green when we brought him in. It was pretty cool to watch him slowly turn orange.
Oh my! These were so delicious after Mrs. Fisher cooked them for us.
Ohhhh! Spooky Face!
